as sb already mentioned, "on a computer, NordPass adds these little buttons to a username & password form, that open a small popup with the saved passwords for that website, just like LastPass does" it has a password strength indicator when you create passwords + for existing logins (Bitwarden doesn't have these indicators which is an inconvenience for me) nicer and somehow more user-friendly UI I will still be using NP on the side though and see if it matures enough someday for me to commit to just one password manager.īelow I'll post a few key differences I immediately noticed when I tried NordPass FREE vs Bitwarden FREE. I have recently upgraded to premium on BW just to support the service even though the free version has everything I need. The only way I can prevent this is if I open the BW vault on a new tab and then make changes from there. If, for example, I wish to move my mouse away from the form fill momentarily in order to pull up some text from my clipboard manager or another document so that I can paste it in BW, by the time I return to BW a few seconds later, everything I've typed previously would be gone and I'd have to restart the editing process. If you try to edit a password entry by using the extension drop-down menu, you have to make sure you type everything in one go. There's only one thing that really annoys me about BW. Additional security codes don't trigger a password update prompt with BW. If I had reacted too fast and clicked yes, it would erase the real important saved password, so usually I have to catch myself in time and ignore NP's prompt. When I then go and fill in this temporary code, NP wrongly recognizes this step as a change in password and would prompt me to update my password with the temporary code. During a log-in process, after filling in the username/pw, certain sites require me to fill in an additional security code sent to my phone. One needs to click on the NP button beside the form fill in order to reveal if anything's saved, and then one more step is needed to fill in the form.Īlso, when it comes to 2-step verification sites, BW does a better job. NP doesn't let me know right away if there are any saved passwords when you visit a site. The paid version is also more expensive than BW.įor example, When I visit a website, the BW extension immediately displays the number of saved passwords associated with that website (Lastpass does the same) and from there it's either just one click, or if you selected auto-fill, it's all done for you. The free service is more restrictive than BW (limited to 1 device). I do think these will be improved in time as the service matures. However, there are still weird kinks, or unintuitive moments while using it side by side with BW. Nordpass is still new in the market so it has room to grow but it definitely looks prettier and the design is more well thought out so in certain respects it feels more pleasant to use. Like most open source products though, the design and user experience can sometimes feel a lil clunky or inelegant but it's minor enough that I can look past it. You get almost all the important features with just the free version, including multiple device use. It's like this reliable service I can trust and forget about. Short comparison: BW is more function over form, while NP is more form over function.īW is a more rounded, mature product and feels more comprehensive than NP. BW I've been using for years, NP I signed up a couple of months ago out of curiosity after I ditched Lastpass for good.
